Well I have not long returned from our holiday up North and got my first peek at my New Speckled Sussex Quartet. It was dark when we arrived home but after donning some warm trackies and armed witha torch I braved the cold and trudged down to the pens to see what I could see. I have 3 pullets and a rooster which were delivered to my daughter about 2 weeks ago and she had cleverly managed to put them into a quarantine cage (she must have been paying attention more than I thought) and they seem to be settled in quite well. I will have to check them out more closely tomorrow but they are huge, much bigger looking than my Faverolles and the colours are spectacular. Not sure if they are laying yet or exactly how old but I will ring the guys I got them fromm over the next couple of days to get the info I need. I can't wait to take some photos to share with you. (Judy you will love them)

what gorgeous birds the one with the lesser spots could be younger than the other birds as i understand that they become more gay with each moult. ie their spots get more pronounced. i am not sure if the ground colour changes too. absolutely beautiful birds, i have hankered after speckled sussex for quite some time
