Hi Emily, you could try putting 4 metal stakes in around the perimiter of you vege patch and attaching polypipe to the stakes and bending in an arc. Then lay clear builders plastic over the arc and attach with something like cable ties. This would make a kind of greenhouse and hopefully keep the frost at bay. The other thing is to push in small cane stakes all over the patch and cover with shadecloth at night and take off once frost gone in morning. Cheers, Wendy

My sister in law lived just out of Collie and the frost there where pretty bad and she used shadecloth to protect plants. I am not sure if this will work on seedlings.

Frost rolls in so you need to protect the boundary of the patch leaving the top open, either shade cloth or as Wendy suggested, hard plastic sheets.

I agree with all the suggestions so far, the best way is to put start picks around the perimeter of the patch, and then using shade cloth or plastic to build a "fence" around the veggie garden, as shea says, frost rolls in, so by using this system, it will protect the seedlings, and you shouldn't have any problems:) Good luck

You can also try surounding the vegi patch with hay or straw bales then cover the lot with the clear plastic or shade cloth. The hay/straw last for around 6 months then you can dig it in to the vegie patch before the next crop goes in
