Hi Beck, yes I do quarantine new chooks, and I have them as far away as I possibly can from my existing birds, usually on the verandah, and I always feed and water the new ones last.

Hello, new here, just wondering where I can get some details on the Auction (ie what time it starts, and do I have to join the club to buy there)
We're just putting the finishing touches on our new coop this weekend and I'm looking for 5 or 6 pullets to stock it.
I'll Introduce myself properly in the new members section shorty.
Thanks Ashley

Hi Ashley, no you don't have to be a member to buy birds at the auction. it is on Sat 6th June at Kelmscott showgrounds, Rushton Park, Orlando St Kelmscott. All birds will be penned by 9am and you can come and view them anytime, the actual auction itself will start approx 12.30 to 1pm after the YOung Bird Show Presentations.

Good question Wendy, especially for someone who has to come a long way. I have to be strong, pekins are a weakness I have to resist as I have NO ROOM, I keep reminding myself. NO ROOM.....I think I am getting the hint, but ohhhhhh......enough said.

lol sounds familiar!! Would you believe Im getting 3 standard size black araucanas (hens, NOTE:NO ROOS!.....yet) tomorrow because I wanted some large egg layers and have been keeping an eye out. I dont really need 3 mind you, but I couldnt leave one there on her lonesome I will post piccies when they arrive! I seriously need a bigger place. The kids wont have anywhere to play soon between chooks and the garden!

Definately could not leave one on her own, that would be mean. There are always people who want eggs, maybe a close neighbour or two to keep them happy. Be strong Wendy, I know I know, it is hard....but you can do it....lol

Thats the plan I live across the road froma caravan park. There is alot of retired people who live in transportable housing. I am going to put a sign up out the front. These Ara's are here to lay pretty eggs to sell and eat. Someone around here has to start earning their keep! Might make enough to buy some chook food. lol Bantam eggs arent that marketable as theyre so small. Mind you the ducks are doing a pretty good job at the moment. I have given duck eggs to one neighbour and told another Id give them some when the chooks started laying. They dont eat duck eggs apparently. As far as being strong, Im really trying! I have someone coming to look at a pair of my Pekins tomorrow so hopefully he'll take them home. Im selling the ones I dont want to breed from.

Hi Wendy, sorry I dont know what colour they are, but the people who are selling them show those breeds so I would presume that they would be of reasonable quality.
