My Buff Silkie x finally managed to complete a hatch. She's tried a couple of times before but some how in the middle forgot she was broody and just got off the eggs. Leaving me with a batch of eggs to throw out or stick under another broody. But FINALLY she has managed to stay the distance and has been rewarded with 7 little chicks. The chicks have come from my Pekins and a couple from a Frizzle. there was still 2 eggs left this morning so maybe she will have a couple more by the time I get home. She started with 10 eggs so 1 dissapeared some where. I hope she will be a good mum as I wont be able to rescue them while I am away if she's not. So far she has been amazingly freindly and has not even pecked me when I checked the hatch progress. so I hope she gets a little tougher as she starts to take them out and about. I will try to post a piccie over the weekend.

I could sit and watch all day very relaxing for sure....and they get so used to me being in there that they all just walk all over me. sadly can't be in there all day ... Lot's of work to do And Jackie the chicks are pekins (pure) and frizzle pekin x's... Just a shame that the hen is not a pure silkie as she is a lovely girl....May yet use her to try and get some buff happening as buffs are so hard to find.
