One of the Silkie chickies from the other days hatch has a prob with its leg. The hock joint is swollen and she wont put any weight on it. Had a look around on the net and it sounds like it might be a dislocated achilles tendon? The articles said, "its easy to fix, just apply gentle pressure with your fingers and it will pop back into place". Well I tried but I couldnt feel anything happening so that didnt work lol. Any ideas guys? Do you think I should try splinting the leg straight?

sorry steph I wish I could help. I always find it very hard to deal with the little ones with leg problems. Their legs are so tiny that I am scared that I will break the bones. It sounds like you would need to pull a little at the same tiem as putting pressure on it. I doubt splinting would help given the joint that it is nut you can only try

I agree with Carolyn, I dont think splinting will help, but good luck, hope you are able to fix the problem

Well the little chickie passed away last night. I did pop a splint on the leg which seemed to be helping a little but there was obviously something else wrong with the little one.
