I guess Steph and Tina would be the best people to answer this one. But in my very limited experience with Silkies. They have the pom poms from birth. My little ones became very pronounced with in the first week or so. Some are bigger than others so mabe your girl was just standing behind the door when the pom poms where handed out. I am sure once you post a picture those with more experience would be able to tell you if she is a cross breed or not. She sounds lovely though can't wait to see a pic.

Yes Silkies do come in black, its just very hard to find good clean blacks without ginger or silver flecking/streaks. I've managed to hatch a black from my last batch of Shrimani eggs thats looking promising so far

She has hair like my araucana crosses and her legs seem to be clean so maybe she's got a bit of araucana in her. If she lays blue or green eggs then a sure but. But she has lovely eyes so regardless she is very cute

Steph try scallywags for black silkies, the ones I got from her were 3 generations black. She may have eggs if not chooks.

yep she doesn't look 100% pure, but you can still breed with her to get nice clean blacks, as the crest is dominant you will get more crest in her babies. do you have a black boy to breed her to, or even a white boy would give black babies?
