The little keat that was the last survivor of a hatching about ten weeks ago has followed its siblings to Guinea Fowl heaven. Found it alone in a corner of the pen looking unwell and when I went to see it tried to run and fell over. I put it in the roost with the hen that was mothering it but it couldn't get up onto the perch. In the morning it was on the ground outside with its head under its wing and when I went to rouse it it fell over again, its wings dragging out on either side, and there was mucous dribbling out of its mouth. As I'm going away and couldn't nurse it I had to put it out of its misery. Anyone recognise the symptoms?

Oh poor baby, I was so hoping it would live long and happy live. Sounds like it has picked the disease of the moment. 'Respiratory'.

I am sorry to hear about the little keat. I was routing for it. Does sound like a respiritory disease with mucous dribbling from it's mouth. Did it also have yukky nostrels....If it did have a respiratory disease I would recommend that you check out the rest of the flock in case any one else is showing signs particulary as you are going away. I think that CRD is bought on with the change from the really hot weather to the much colder nights. Just out of interest does anyone have any treatment for CRD we may start to see an increase in the near future

I use Tylan (100 I think it is) I got Bio John to send it out to my local feed store, 100 is a preventative that is mixed with the food
