If you have a funny story about a mere male in your life, why not share it with the other members and post it here.

So my 12 yr old boy says, "can we have McDonalds icecream for sweets tonight?" and I say "No, weve got 3 tubs of chocolate icecream in the big freezer". He says "what flavour?" Doh!!

You do realise that 12 yr olds don't count as mere males cause they have still got their mothers gene till they mature.

I believe about now they start to go to their fathers for guidance moreso than their mums. I wish I could keep them tied too Carolyn But I will tell you Im a bit sick of hearing when can I get this or that pierced "When your 16 you can get ugly holes in your eyebrows or lips or whatever" and with the darling 15 yr old daughter the latest is "When can I go to party's and stay over when boys are staying over?" "Well probably not until your 30 if Daddy has anything to do with it honey" :)lol

lol Wendy good answer i bet they loved that and tell them just imagine how nast and saggy the tattoo's and piercings will look when they are 90 and in a nursing home or how they will dribble if they get there tongue pieced and the muscle goes week or about the fact that if you hit the nerve that runs along the eyebrow line there face could end up partially paralised hhmmm not what they paid for exactly but it could still happen !!!! 1 of my best friends also went to a party and was having acouple of drinks when a guy glassed him from behind and as he turned to see who it was or what had happened he felt the blood running down his face saw the other guys face for the first time ( he had never seen him or spoken to him EVER ) then he passed out and when he woke he dicovered the glass had severed all the tendons in one side of his face and now he looks like he has had a stroke and has had years of phsio etc and the guy got off saying it was a accident and he can not apeal !!!! It is so unsafe out there i am not saying to lock them up but i doubt that anyone would expect to go through that after a night out

Wendy it does get easier, but it is tough while you go through it. I heard a great bit of advice that I used with my girls and it made life so much easier for all. Be firm with the things that really matter, like drugs, alcohol etc and lighten up on the things that don't. The example was a 12 year old girl who wanted to shave her legs and the mum was adamant she would not allow it. The advice they gave was go buy the girl a razor. My girls have told me much later that they appreciated our outlook, except one, movie ratings. We would not allow them to watch certain ratings, period. My eldest went to the movies and watched Dante's Peak which we said no to. We found out and after we discussed it and listened to her objections to the rating, we watched the movie and had to agree with er, so we changed it to you can't watch it unless we have seen it. It was a compromise, not always popular though.

bringing up children to be well adjusted adults I think is one of the hardest jobs that you could ever try to do in life and yet it is the only occupation that does not have prerequits to do. you can only do your best and hope for the best, I feel so sorry for my oldest daughter now, she was 17 years old before she was allowed to have any "freedom" and that was when we moved and she had to catch the public bus to school as she was in year 12 and we didnt want her changing schools at that time. She was and is a georgeous kid, but we were so scared of anything happening to her.
