Well finally I have started off my breeding program with 4 nice 20 weeks old salmon faverolle pullets. I have been hanging out for some girls for a while now.....I still have an order in from Chookloop down south so they will add a bit of different bloodline. Thanks to Beck I have a very handsome cockeral which after comparing with the stud rooster at the place where I just got my pullets, he's looking to be an excellent looking bird. Beck I will definately save you some of the first chickies I get in the next season in return for giving me the rooster. He's a beauty. I will post some pics soon

I think the lighter looking ones are just caught in the sunlight. there's not actually a lot of difference when you see them all together. I think the lighter ones are actually the better quality. Still learning what's good and not. Apparently any black feathers in the girls is bad...There is one that has slightly darker brown feathers in the hackles round it's neck and tail feathers and it is quite a lot bigger than the others so not too sure about that one.

Oh I just realised that some of you don't know the darkest one in the photo at the bottom is a cockerel. The light ones (4) are hens. The girls are all pretty much the same colour just some a tad lighter and some a tad darker. The boys are spectacular when they reach maturity and the girls a little drab. I have attached a photo of a fully grown rooster(not my own) so you can see how pretty they are

Apart from eyes and maybe a fifth toe you would not know they related to the same breed.
