My brother in law was having problems with some sort of flea or something similar with his chookens and the usual powders etc weren't working. He decided to buy the ordinary flea collars for dogs and cut them to fit around the chookens necks. He then super glued them to form a chooken collar which disappeared under the feathers. The chookens weren't fussed with them and best of all they never had a flea problem again. I hope that this helps other chooken keepers in the future

Tell him to patent his idea and start selling...lol Very inventive. We use Ivomectin on all our animals for fleas etc, so why not a flea collar

Clever idea I use Frontline for cats on the poultry, which is very pricey when you've got as many birds as I do. I've got some Ivomec on its way in the post as we speak so that will be soooo much cheaper

Yeh, I,ve told him to go into production, bur he reckons that it would be too hard to put buckles on them. So why not tell everyone and help.

Hi plink, sounds like a great idea, the only query I have is as it is not recommended for use with poultry, how much does it affect the by products, eg eating the eggs etc

The collars fell off after about 3 months, but prior to that he had no problems. Chookens still flea free.

sounds like a great idea. We've only had them a few times and I just smother them with vaseline. Chooks look a bit bedraggled for a couple of days but works well

See now that's just the perfect example of why the old permiculture techniques are still the best. Bring on the marigolds, mint, fennel, wormwood, tansy and the natural pyrethrum plants (little white daisy type plant),.. And don't forget it looks good too
