A few of you have probably read this thread on BYP about these mesh panels from Bunnings: forum.backyardpoultry.com/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=7969158I thought they were a great idea and have been meaning to go and have a look at Bunnings but just hadnt got there. Well I finally got to Bunnings today and there was 2 of these packs sitting there so I grabbed them As you can see in the BYP thread they would be great for use as temporary cages or as day cages for older chicks to have a feast on the lawn etc. The panels are 700mm x 900mm so it makes a decent size cage. They were $22.87 per pack. I will put the details in the Pricing forum

I thought they looked good on BYP, I gathered so did a lot of other people as they all went buying them. I keep forgetting to look myself, was in bunnings today.....darn. If you wanted to you could put some cheap gutter guard on the bottom and put smaller chicks in there. Works a treat, easy to work with and best of all is cheap.

I got three sets today and made 2 pens. I used the third pack to make floors and a top as I was worried that crows may be able to get to the young uns. They have come out great only took about 15 minutes each to put together . I have taken some pictures but for some reason wont upload on photbucket so I will post piccies once I fgure out what I am doing wrong. Once again thanks for the great tip Steph

Thats great Carolyn I discovered today that I can use one panel on the front of the BEI's house where theres a piece of tin that I've been wanting to take off and replace with mesh. It will fit just right Then I also realised that 2 panels will cover the floor quite nicely so that the foxes cant dig underneath. I think we could find a million uses for those mesh panels! Although I reckon all the Bunnings in Perth will probably sell out soon, once word gets around

There's absolutely heaps at Bunnings Whitfords. We also had a look at some larger panels of weld mesh to make bigger ones for more permenant pens but the price was ridiculaous. $60 fpr 1500 x 900. So I thinks I will start finding lots of uses for these little panels for lots of jobs. Also added some gutter guard around the botton to stop the little ones escaping through the gaps. I turned them sideways and used electrical ties instead of the little coil things that were supplied. When turned on the side the two ends are longer that the sides so we bent hese over to form a bit of a lip. and also bent the third pane on the top. HArd to explain but maybe you can see in the pics Happy little chappies
