Hi Beck, the chickadees are done as day olds, and its 50c a chickadee, I try and keep them in the lounge for at least a week, preferably 2 weeks to give the vaccine a bit of a chance to start working before they go out into the brooder shed with the other chickadees and I dont mind being asked questions, and hopefully I can answer them or at least head you in the right direction where to find out.

so what do you think h7 is it too risky to get a 13 week old done or not i would rather not if it's a risk she's one of my favourites but iam unsure weather it will be safe to take her around other chooks if i do have a go at showing her coz i don't know if she can get ill or if she needs the vaccine what do you think

Hi Beck, as far as I am aware she is too old to be vaccinated, in regards to showing it is not advised not to show a bird under 6 months as they havent reach their full size or maturity as yet. I personally wouldnt show a bird under about 10-11 months, and by this stage they would have gained a certain amount of natural immunity against most bugs, when birds are shown they have to be in good health, no fleas lice etc, if a bird is looking a bit unsavoury the exhibitor is asked to remove it from the show shed by the steward of the show. Have a go at showing, it is great fun and you do get a buzz when one of your birds get a placing card on its pen.
