Well good morning everyone I have a piccy for you of my baby that hatched an hour ago. he is very happy and full of beans. he hatched out perfectly with no assistance. I dont think he's a d'uccle though as he has no signs of feathers on his feet, so either he's a different Belgian breed or another bantam of some sort Maybe a d'Anver ?? Im pretty sure the lady this egg came from has them as well as the d'Uccle's. Anyway, he's too cute and I cant exactly send him back!! I have a video of him hatching too for the kids. havent got a name yet, Im too tired...Well here he is and I'll post a fluffy one later on. Now Im off to bed

Well I posted this pics on BYP and the lady I bought the eggs from was very embarassed to tell me it looks like a Wyandotte. She has Bantams. Mustve got mixed up. So that solves that mystery!! Well, now I guess Im mum to Wyandottes too

Hi Steph, possible an interesting colour by the sounds. This is the thread from BYP that she directed me to. She started it asking about some of her Wyandotte's. She thinks it could be from this hen. The 2 chicks at the bottom look a lot like my one but obviously older. Pretty cute little things, I really like the colour forum.backyardpoultry.com/viewtopic.php?t=7967341

Oh, hi Steph, just saw your post. I candled the others and there are still definately 2 moving. 1 I suspect is about to pip or has pipped into the air sac, so thats good news. Maybe Star will have a friend tomorrow?? I candled the other 24 eggs at the same time, thought what the hell, may as well since Im doing the others. It turns out that nearly all of the 12 that I picked up from Boyanup the other day are fertile (*YAY*) and nearly all that were posted from perth look no good. Bummer bout those ones. Anyway, I will see how they go next time I candle.

what a little cutie Hopefully Star has a new friend in the morning. Its so disappointing when you candle eggs that you had such high hopes for, only to discover that theyre no good. Out of my first dozen Silkie eggs I got from QLD, it looks like I'm only going to get 4 maybe 5 chickies hatch, the rest were full of air bubbles or not fertile. But I guess theres always next season On the upside though, I candled my other lot of Silkie eggs again last night (from the same ppl that fluffy got hers from) and theres something growing in every egg!

I will show my granddaughter the pictures when she comes home tomorrow. I am sure she will love to see them. She is 6. Isn't it amazing that eggs that come from so close to home are duds yet ones that have done it hard from the other side of Australia have 100% fertility. I have bought 2 dozen eggs from the same people in QLD and both times they are all fertile. I candled mine the other day and have 2 quitters, the rest looking good for Christmas day.

I cant wait to see what colours she is when feathered. I hope its a she, then I can keep her.Positive thinking. I hopetheres a chic tomorrow, Star seems a bit lonely. Not crying out though like I expected.Very calm and quiet. Except for the 3 times Skye got her out of the box and took her into her bedroom. Shes sooooo naughty. That unsettled Star a bit. Shes such a gorgeous little bird with so much character already. I wanna keep her so bad Thats fantastic news about the second lot of eggs I hope it all goes well. What day is it for you? Mine have only been in since Tuesday and I didnt expect to see alot, but what a pleasant surprise. I say I'll give up on eggs from the east, but maybe when I get the incubator sorted, it will be better.

Hi Fluffy, I suspect that one lot of the eggs may have been a bit old? They were all packed well and didnt take long in the post. Who knows??? Never mind at least the other dozen are good.

Well, we lost one of the moving eggs this morning. I checked on it first thing and it was still moving, but I checked half an hour ago and it had died in the shell without pipping. I had a look and it was a beautiful black belgian d'uccle Im thinking I should have helped it now Oh well, the other egg is still moving. No signs from the others so I guess theyre no good either. Im happy though because today is chook/duck pen building day! Were off to bunnings to buy some things and then were onto it. Its technically for the bantams but Im sick of the ducklings hanging around on the patio pooping everywhere. Im hosing it twice a day We love them really!! Anyway I'll post some pics when its done.
