Have ended up with 6 keets, 1 being lavender. Was going to turn the bator off yesterday arvo so thought I'd better put each guinea egg to my ear just incase theres a late one and luckily I did because there was one egg trying to pip. The keet has been tweeting and trying to pip since yesterday arvo but still no crack in the shell yet so we'll see if it ends up hatching. My OH checked the bator at 3.30am this morning when he got up for work and told me that there was a lil chick in there. I said, 'so that little keet must've hatched then' and he 'no its got black legs it cant be a guinea'. I thought u've gotta be kidding thats a really late chick but sure enough got up this morning and checked and we've got another white silkie chick. They were due on Monday, the first of which hatched on Sunday arvo and this lil guy has hatched Thursday night! He's a lucky lil chickie that he was in the bator and not under a broody otherwise he wouldnt have hatched coz the broody would've already gotten off the unhatched eggs by now.

Isn't artificial nature great. But what about the keet, is it still going?

No, unfortunately not. I couldnt hear it pipping anymore so I decided to break open the shell and see if it was still alive but it had died. Poor thing was obviously absolutely exhausted and gave up. Disappointing, but these things happen. The lil silkie chickie is doing well but has splay legs so will put a hobble on him shortly. My first lot of silkie eggs arrived this morning from QLD. None broken or cracked Expecting the other lot of silkie eggs and the BLWs to arrive on Wednesday.

Mine arrived on Wednesday, extremely well packed and not a broken one. I did notice some air bubbles in the eggs, so hopefully all will be ok. Will find out soon enough. Shame about the little one and fancy the silkie having splay legs already. What causes it?

I'd say it was probably caused by the long incubation. Its now got its little hobble on so we'll see how it goes. So we've ended up with 6 keets. 2 of which I will keep, 1 being lavender and the other looks like it could be pied. The other 4 are pearl and already sold. They will go to their new home in the next week or so. I'll try to remember to take a piccie of them this arvo

Well not good news Im afraid. He took a turn for the worst on Saturday night and I found him "gone" in the morning. He must've had something else wrong with him that I couldnt see, as he was doing quite well with his hobble.
