Hi guys n gals, well, I have just finished fiddling in the incubator filling up the second water tray, put some rubber matting down and gave the eggs their final turn before they hatch out. Well to my surprise, after I had put the lid on and was watching the hygrometer creep up, one of the eggs starts to do little shuddering motions!! Im so eggscited! they are due to hatch on Wednesday. I will keep you posted of progress on this thread until they hatch. Cheers, Wendy

Hey Wendy, my duck eggs did exactly the same thing. Funny thing is the one that wiggled the most was last to hatch. Looking forward to your pictures

Hey Fluffy, thanks for that... I think?? lol I have a serious case of "baby brain" now. I keep going in the laundry to see the eggs and cant focus on other stuff!! Im kinda glad you said that because I thought I might have an early one on the way and i have to work tomorrow. I have taken Wednesday and thursday off work this week so Im glad I will be around for the hatch. Or maybe its a bad idea!! At least I can stay up late and watch the progress if I want

Hi everyone, we have pipping!! I can hear at least one baby squeaking!! I was very naughty tonight and brought the egg out that has been moving the most. I held it up to my ear and could hear it tapping and squeaking!! My 14 yr old daughter heard it too. Then we put it back in and gave teh eggs a quick spray and then we heard it do a louder squeak, everything quiet at the moment just some movement. Im sure theyre going to start to hatch tonight and maybe by morning the kids will have a nice surprise. I really need to get some sleep but I know I wont until after midnight!! Have to got to my sons kindy concert in the morning for about an hour so Murphy's law, all the action will happen while we're gone! Anyway, i will definately keep you guys posted!! xxx Wendy

Well, good morning everyone, nothing to report. No fluffies yet We do hear peeping though especially loud from the big egg thats been moving the most/longest. Hes been chipping and peeping for hours and I really thought he'd have made a hole by now! Oh well, Kids will have to wait till they get home from school and afterschool commitments. God, surely something will happen by then? Yes kids you DO have to go to school,no you cant stay home to watch the ducks hatch. How mean am I? lol

I hope everything goes well wendy. What day were they actually due? I know that if it was me and nothing had happened by this arvo I'd be helping out, I wouldnt be able to stop myself.

Ours did that too Wendy, everybody went out, when they got home, NOTHING had happened. They were happy, but I was frustrated and concerned. As Steph says if nothing develops by late this arvo I would be looking at seeing if any needed help. Only if they had pipped and not made any progress during the day would I think about intervening. By the way it is not recommended as many say that is natures way of culling the weak. I am home lots today, please keep us updated, even if it is to say no progress. Jeez, you would think it was my hatch...lol

Hi guys, they were put in the incubator at around 10am on thursday 30th October. Which is nearly 29 days ago. Also, just to clarifly something is pipping when they break through the airsac or when they actually start to break through the shell? If I do decide to help out, should I just make a hole in the shell where the airsac is? Cheers, Wendy

Pipping is breaking open of the egg shell. For my bit, I do not help chicks or ducklings that have not pipped. If they can't break through the membrane in the airsac then they are not strong. Others may have different opinions. I am sure they will be along soon
