I have always wanted a peacock and my MIL has suggested that she buy us a peacock and peahen as a Christmas present when we move to our farm.
Does anyone here breed or sell them or know of anyone who does? I can't get them until we move so most likely after Christmas early New year.
Of course I know nothing about them so have to do a bit of research as well!

Thanks Kim, I have sent them an email, hope they have some early next year.
Apparently peafowl breed spring/summer only and you can't sex them reliably until at least 6 months of age. So I suspect that it might take some time to locate a pair or trio...which is just as well seeing as how I can't get them until we move.

It will be better to buy at least two females, as they tend to roam together, whilst the male will usually stay around a small "display area" during late winter/spring and into summer! It is so lovely watching the peas fly to roost...beautiful birds (even though the males tend to call during the night in spring!) Male chicks tend to be much larger than female, with longer legs! They will look like females 'til about 6-8 months, when they develop green or blue on their tail feathers and backs. Good luck in your search, i recently had to rehome my male and two females due to mean neighbours d**n, if i had just waited 6 months, they could have been yours!
