His comb is developing and quite mulberry compared to my other silkie of the same age. Will try to get a pic of both combs to show you between the showers of rain.

Thanks very much for that, I just bought some silkies off this lady and to me they all looked like males but she said no all their combs look like that at this stage. I think I was scammed. I hate it, I'm honest and wish to buy honest, you would think other people would be to. After I bought them I looked closely and I don't think they are even purebred. Oh well at least I learned a lesson for next time. Thanks for your help. Goodluck with finding your roo a home.

You will say serves yourself right but I rang up about these silkies for sale. She happened to have 6mth old Isa Browns for sale as well (she raised herself she said) which I wanted a couple of. I arranged to go over to hers the next day in Armadale but had to call back for address. She rang me later that day and said she was taking some silkies to another lady in the next suburb from me in the morning and could come 2 me first so i had first pick. I thought wow and said could u bring 5 isa brown as well. Don't get me wrong I inquired fully about them she said beautiful looking birds just a few missing feathers on neck from malting u won't notice but. Anyway she came the next morning the hens were featherless I was so shocked and embarrassed i didn't know what 2 say i bought them anyway. Still shocked I looked at the silkies and tryed 2 pick 6 thinking my hubby is going 2 kill me 4 this. She left and i was thinking was i just scammed with battery hens, yes i was. I was talking 2 another guy, he knew of her and apparantly she makes up reasons 2 come 2 u and does it all the time.

Hey Jaspiip, thanks for the warning. I guess wherever they came from, they are better off with you than where they were before by the sounds of things. You "saved" them! Give them a few months and they will be beautiful girls again and no doubt thankful you gave them a home

Thanks for the warning. Yes get the word out there as most of us take extra good care of our little chickens and only want the best for them.

That's exactly why I bought them, I felt sorry for the little things. At least they can have a loving home here.

Hi Jaspiip, sorry but I had to edit your post slightly, but good on you for still taking the poor things to give them a better home.

Not a very nice experience for you jaspiipp. People like that make me so mad! I have a feeling that lady is already known to the quokka, I think she's the reason they started putting those 'beware of buying out of the back of cars' warnings in the livestock section. Like farmchooks said, the majority of us spoil our chookens rotten and only want the best for them. At least the battery hens have gone to a good home and I bet theyre happy about it!
