I have been having the same problem. Sometimes the hatch rate is as low as 20%. Now I am waiting for hens to go broody and then let them do it naturally. Had 4 out of 7 chicks with splayed legs. They were fine in the incubator but developed splayed legs in the brooder. I use sand in the brooder, so it is not slippery. Not sure what the problem is.

How high was your humidity level? I've kept mine at around 45 to 50% throughout the whole of the 21 days. I'm going to leave it until the weather warms up a bit before setting more eggs.

That seems a bit high. I've never had mine that high before. Could be the problem.

I done quite a few experiments on humidity over the years , its the average over the whole period that matters leave it dry for the first 7-14 days then add some at the end for hatching if you feel the need . i have had a good hatch in the past from no added water the whole way thru and if was only on 30% humidity. Have you tried this year yet ?
