Have you got your power back on yet ? Ours came back on this afternoon 4 days no power no phone and no internet. I had to fix the genset on Tuesday it died no spark had to wire brush the magneto and disconnect a wire that shorted.

No one home...but will ask anyway.... I've got a few Sussex chicks left... which I will keep.... the question is they are 3 plus week old.. Half have tails... half don't!!!!... so that another way to sex them?.. ONE WOULD ASSUME that the ones with the tails/long feathers are tomorrow Rooster?... FACK?...of FICTION?... Gurus please give an opinion!!!... pity the room is!!!!!!

I don't know whether it is fact or fiction but suspect that they are cockerels.

Some breeds it is the other way around pullets get tails and feather up quicker . but I can't remember with sussex.

I have found that for most breeds the pullets feather up faster than the cockerels.

If the breed has the slow feathering gene the pullets will feather up faster, but I don' know if Sussex have that gene. The gene is usually present in breeds derived from Asiatic breeds.

From my observations of the chicks hatched your eggs, the cockerels get their tail feathers way after the pullets.

We're talking baby /pin / little tail feathers.... after 3 / 4 weeks!.. not the grown big feathers... baby feathers.... I'm going to srpay dye on all the one with tails.... ask me in a month or 6 weeks!... & we will all know the answer.... .... detailed research!!.. lol....

Been told by Guru on Pigeon Forum... with the little tail is Hen...so have marked /dyed /sprayed tail to be 100% sure .... in a month will be 100% sure... ..been a beautiful day in Perth...guessing 29c... & breeze...
