I am hoping for chicks this weekend ,but it seems they may be a day or so early. Went to put them into lock down a day late (long story)only to find that on candling half were already pecking away and one is through ,so maybe chicks tomorrow . My Orpington broody will be pleased, but I don't get to play with them for long. I do however have some Godburd eggs from the man who sold me my girls and 11 of them have taken and I have no broody for them. Didn't you have Godburds once CK ?they seem nice natured birds

Yes I still have some hens here no rooster they lay a nice big egg but are a very stubborn broody . I have a godborg hen who has gone broody for the third time . Last time she hatched 17 and raised 16 there Father is a crele Orpington only trouble I can't catch them and they camp under our house and they got fleas from the dogs. I am going to put some of the Indian game x chicks under her this time.

good luck with that one Ck one thing I have never had is a problem with my Indian Game roo or now the PR I think its now because i am keeping less hens with each roo back to about 4 /5 per roo and not 10 to 12 as I have done and was recommended to do now seems to make a lot better hatch rate so far I will see when the next lot come out to play Trev

:)I always found the 1roo to 4/5 girls was great with fertility and the girls were happy with it too unless you got an aggressive roo.

NICE hatch m8 /mine was TOTAL BUST 15/ from 60 eggs but the old incubator is now a brooder and have replaced with new incubator so see if my luck is any better with the new one /24 eggs which a friend supplyed did not take at all but i have replaced his rooo now for him, As for roo to henns try the 12/to 1 /sorry did not get a lot of freitail eggs the roo seam to have 3 girls that he go for all the time and the rest went with out /so 4 to 1 is my new /my best results got 4 new ducklings from 6 eggs which is nice so slowly the pens and weather is coming to life /you see there all go broody tommor

my rooster was in 4 to 1 but they ones giving low fertility are very skinny , mind you I have got some of his last eggs fertile just waiting to see if they hatch tomorrow , I have shifted him out and my new hampshires and put gold finger dad and mum in the pen were rocky was I had to shift the first lot of chicks down to where the new hampshires were.
