it's always hit and miss but best have eggs posted in the winter to stop them getting hot in the truck / van they come in. I sent 2 dozen over to NSW couple weeks back and only 4 have taken , yet I have had Ok results from eggs sent this way over. I only managed to hatch 2 plymouths rocks myself this year from my own but had fantastic rates with marans and australorps.

well at least they don't do what some have done, incubated the egs to day 14 plus then posted them as 100% fertile then wonder why none hatch. I heard of someone else requesting that they be incubated to day 18 then posted so they didn't have to wait as long. I tell you some peolpe are a bit ..........

Being new to the chicken husbandry routine, I have been discarding fertile egg's that hadn't started pipping after 21 day's, wont be doing that again, a friend of mine had simular hatching's as you Trev, & she advised me to give them at least another 48 hour's longer than the prescribed 21 day's.............

gee the egg must have been on the edge of the hen. I have had them range from 14 days thru to 25 days although the broodys that hide their nest I don't know how long they have been sitting.

Yep i was shocked about that its the latest one i have ever had the eggs were cold when i got them so they would have stayed in the fridge until posting time that could have made all the difference to it other to that i have no idea trev
