Well after visiting the royal show and walking around the pidgeon and poultry section just before we left to go home I found my 4 year old chook mad youngest had managed to snaffle an egg....we brought it home and lobbed it into our small incubator just on the off chance it may actually go the distance.....well there is chirping coming from the egg tonight and it should be with us tomorrrow what ever it is.... I think he is hoping for a dinosaur!!! the wife wants a silkie. Me I just like to see the 3 boys faces when they hatch.

Be careful what you wish for! My Mum rescued an egg being eaten by a stray cat and it became the carnivorous Aylesbury drake known as "Squeaky"! But thenagain he has become an awesome Dad to every other ducks offspring......

Um ah! Naughty 4yo - lol! ;D Pretty exciting though, I'd love to do a 'mystery hatch' just to see what pops out! If you do get a dinosaur - I want pics! ;D

Well it did hatch.....it's not the dinosaur or a silkie, it's mostly black, black beak yellow under the beak and wing tips, I think it is possibly an Australop. I got up this morning and all 3 boys were up and sitting staring at the incubator.

Well It is now older, I have been through quite a few websites and I think it has turned out to be a Langashan. I think it is possibly a roo but could be wrong. Was chasing of the doves and a wagtail today. Are they a rareer breed here in wa?

Hi Mick. I am sorry but Langshans are not a rare breed in WA. Does it have feathering on its feet as that is one of some interesting features of Langshans. Cheers Linda
