Hi guys I found my girls have scaley leg?? Never seen it before but I was going to treat it with frontline. What I was wondering is can you eat the eggs while there being treated?? Any info would help as my little girls eat eggs most days. Thanks

I wouldn't eat egg for at least 2weeks normally but upto 4 weeks as frontline is toxic and not approved for poultry your also putting it on legs --available to the birds to peck. Scaley leg is better treated with a oil based product such as Vaseline with a hint of Vicks added or olive oil beeswax /mix with a drop of eucalyptus or teatree added . There are also some other products around that would be safer to use on the legs. The scale needs to be suffocated and putting frontline on legs the chooks may eat it getting it into the food chain . Be aware also that the scale when dead the skin will not automatically go back to normal and dont try removing it as it can be very painful to chooks . The legs may not return to normal until next moult occasionally they do but its rare .
