Just one more thought . If they are craving calcium (all that shell grit ) calcium absorption needs Magnesium . Mag deficiency also created muscle contractions , unsteady gait, tremors, problems with heart etc. To much phosphorus can reduce mag absorption . I would try a little Epsom salts or some other magnesium in the water if you have some .Cant hurt .

well the phone has gone off tonight the lot of poult's we had were split into three all three of us have had the same trouble, two guys are pig breeders and Me the third. A Vet that owns his own practice has had a look at them on two of the places and he is not happy with any of them all three of us fed differently but all had the same thing happen they will eat you out of house and home and not put on any weight at all. The long and the short of it is I have to destroy the lot of them in the morning. We are all going for the breeder in the east wish us luck and I hate doing this its not there fault Trev

Wonder if there was some sort of toxic reaction in the parent -parents passed on to babies or a massive deficiency. Sad for birds but what chioce do you have

Hi jacquie for once I have had a satisfactory ending the guys in the east the breeder had no idea what was going on in the west the deal was that the guy in WA was a go between he had to keep them for a month hen pass them on to the purchaser after all the nasties have gone he took a short cut and sold them off at a day old we will get them replaced with one month old or older in the next few weeks the pouts had not had there injections as they should have I think this guy has had a lot of trust where it should not be we will see what the next lot do Trev

Hi Chooky Thanks for that, the growing season will take me through to Feb 2012 I will have to have a late Christmas . The lesson learned was stick to your guns, purchase one month old pouts all the time. I bread my own I never had a problem, its just the double breasted poults you know nothing about I would love to know how they get them to have the large breast how they mess about with them Trev

Trev,
It looks like you'll be having turkey for Australia Day.
So these poults were directly from Inghams?
