Hi Everyone lucky me is going to Hobart for a short break next weekend and while I am there I am going to the Hobart Rare Breeds Show and I have organized to collect 2 dozen fertile eggs to bring back via my hand luggage. Can anyone give me some tips with transporting the eggs and is going through the security checkout ok too or will they make me surrender them. I will have them packed in a small foam esky.thanks linda

Hey Linda,
I brought back eggs from NSW last year in my back pack in egg cartons wrapped in bubble wrap amongst some tshirts and I just ensured that I was careful not to flip my back pack around etc. I placed the bag through the security check point (scanner area) at Sydney airport and they passed with no problems. So I am sure that you will be fine getting them through security in Tassie. Here in Perth there is no worries as it isn't illegal to bring eggs into other states. I hope this helps you. May I ask what breeds you are getting? Regards Terry

hey linda, as terry says its fine to bring back eggs from interstate, i too have done it, and had them brought to me as well. some people aer worried that the scanner cna cause a problem, but you have no choice, your luggage has to g through the scanner, and i have had reasonable hatch rates of the eggs too. just ensure to the best of your ability that they don't get jounced around too much lol. good luck and enjoy the hobart rare breeds show.............remember you are OBLIGED to take pcitures for those of us who aren't there ( and pretty please of so me of the pekins they will have there) cheers jacquie.
