I have recently started to let the chickens wander around the garden free range and egg production has shot right up? Coincidence or not? Anyway i went out this arvo to collect the eggs and there were four small ones and a super huge (well in my eyes anyway) one. I quickly dashed to the home ec room to use their scales - it weighed 95g ;D ;D ;D The rest of the eggs average 50g (as usual) why would there be such a large egg randomly. No one could have interfered which was my first guess so it was definitely the girls? Thanks, Ryan

1 of my isa brows layed a 90 gram egg last week the day after i fed them a heap of spagettie bolognaise. my guess is its the sudden mass protine from mince that did it in my chook, in your case its the extra bugs they ate probably

I collect eggs on an free range egg farm and you should see some of the monsters those girls lay. I should weigh one and let you know.

there is something about free ranging chooks they love it all the bugs they eat turns the yolk a deeper yellow and the birds look a lot better for it after all its more natural for them Trev

I had a look into this as I get 100 gram eggs on a regular basis now, so I needed to know what the largest egg was. July 2008 in Cuba 180 grams according to the Guinness Book of records before this the total was 170 grams love to have had a look at that so I have a long way to go to get the world record [ How can I make the girls lay larger eggs ] ;D ;D ;D

I have let mine out into the vegi garden to clean it up. Maybe it's the fresh greens etc that help get the larger eggs!!!
