a roof over the pen to keep them out is all i can think of, if you can't use wire bird netting, nylon bird netting should help

I am assuming that they are getting in to eat the chook food? I have my chook feed suspended off the ground (via a wire or you could use a tripod method), high enough that small birds and rodents can't reach it but all the chooks have no trouble getting to it. This also helps keep dirt and other things out of it too. And stops the chooks from kicking it all about.

I have suspended feeders they get scratch grain a few times a week plus scraps so there is always food around. Will they leave after i cover the pen? They poop everywhere and peck out my seedlings. i was thinking maybe one of those hawks the fake ones? any more solutions?

i used to have a real problem with pink and greys....................my backyard was always full of them, and one of my neighbours was very unhappy with the noise they made. once the food source was gone, after i covered my pen, they soon disappeared off to greener pastures so to speak so i thikn its worth trying covering your pens to get rid of the doves, or cover your esedlings til they are more established.

I have silly doves that get into my fox proof runs from time to time, plus get a free ride on all the food. Yesterday I tried to shoo one out of my Runner ducks pen, but it wouldn't go, so I opened the gates to let them all outside. I shut everyone in at night, not giving a second thought to the dove, thinking it would be long gone. This morning I found the dove in the Runners pen, with it's head & all it's feathers removed. Sat there looking like a Sunday roast. I was actually surprised at how much meat there was on the breast, would have been easily 3cm or a good inch, looked quite juicy. So was horrified that my aloof Runners are so savage & that there is so much meat on a dove. Suppose they deserve capital letters now!
