yep spill the beans give me the Goss . ;D ;D ;D I have looked into a few brands and depending on what type of inverter you have the more or less you make in a day on a 1.5 or 1.6 KW system. I will make a move on one when I move into our home in Kellerberrin when the farm has sold, when ever that will be, at the present rate it will cost me about $19,000 to do what I want to do, it may be a lot less expensive by the time I am ready for it . Or after the budget it may not be worth it at all we will see Trev

Hi Everyone Well I got my electricity bill last week and it was only $185.30 I was happy with that as It was over a very hot period and we did have our air cons on at night as well as during the day. Shea we got the panels that have copper indium selenium as they pick up the energy more effectively over cloudy days too. They were a little bit dearer, but we thought in the long run it will be worth it. If you get a quote with the solar shop can you tell the that I mentioned their name to you, if thats not to cheeky. Cheers everyone. Linda 29

HI Linda Could you please let me know what kind of air con you are using Single units in each room or a fully ducted system if you know can you please let me know what horse power the motor is I have a fully ducted system with a 10 HP motor and an inverter and this thing is hungry for power from 27 to 37 units per dayextra set on 27 degrees set low fan and that keeps the place just at the best for this house but it uses well over half of the power I use after all the testing I have done over the last 4 months now it is the air con that uses it up without air I use 22 to 23 units per day with the air on I use up to 59 and the top was 62 Now I have to work all this out to see how many sola units I need on the roof of the new place we will live in but I will only have single units not fully ducted Thanks in advance Trev

Trev, ours is fully ducted but we have 3phase power into the house so our unit wasn't as expensive and I think its cheaper to run. I have ours on all the time and have never used as much as you do. and Linda, I could mention your name but I don't think they have Linda29 on their records. We have already mentioned our friends name to them but I can also drop yours into the conversation. PM your surname. I asked the kids what Linda from the ed supports last name was and Mitch said 'little Linda, I don't know'

Here's our usage, unfortunately I only kept $ value not units. The very 1st one, March 08, was before the aircond was fitted. It usually goes up in Summer and Winter and down in Spring and Autumn. I'm having trouble keeping them all in columns Think the fullstops might have worked. ................2008...........2009.............2010..............2011 March.......$108.90......$332.05........$497.40.........$366.50 May..........$198.40......$203.20........$354.30 July..........$263.00......$281.00.........$307.05 Sept........$382.15......$436.00........$538.40 Nov..........$224.35......$294.50.........$372.95 January....$149.65......$250.30.........$236.25

Hi Shea little Linda thats a new one ha,ha at school I get called nic nic but my real name is Linda Nicholls & Peter is the other half. I have a big split system in the middle of the house and there are small units in the bedroom which aRe on timers. This helps keep the electrify bill down as the kids would happily go to sleep with the air cons on. Our big air con is I think a 8.5.kw system. I have an evap one but last summer it was useless. I suppose the only way to gauge the effectiveness of solar panels is to ask as many people as you can that you know has them. Cheers linda

looks like split systems are the way to go the system I have even has zoning on it but it uses just as much power with it on or not at least with splits you only have the room you are in on and running a smaller motor should reduce the bill a lot Thanks again Trev

Hi Everyone I got another electricity bill and again only $187.30. I am happy with this as my statement showed $300.73 then the feed tariff offset the rest of the bill. I got a letter about switching to the smart meter and cheaper tariffs between 10pm and 8am. Does anyone know more about this smart meter stuff. cheers linda

that is better than nothing Linda, money in your pocket, not western power. i don't think i would like the smart meter. i think, i may be wrong, that for it to work you should use your washing machine, etc after 10pm, that wouldn't work for me

I put 3.2 kw of sola panels on my roof and am selling it back to the govt' @ 40cents a unit. So far this year the gove owe me about $400.00. I got a letter today saying that the tarrif is going down as of the 1st July to 20cents a unit. Glad i got mine late last year as i'm locked into a 10 year deal to sell back @ 40cents a unit and they can't take it off me. So not only has the Govt' rebate on the panels been cut back, now the tarriffs have as well. Our good old Govt' can't let us have anything!!
