Saw some auto waterers on Better Homes & Gardens last week and found some at Brookfield Poultry but not sure where to start? Any hints/tips/ideas anyone? Am only watering 14 chooks at the moment but hope to have some more soon. Also are they any good for ducks - my muscovies are pretty good with their waterer but the Khaki's are slobs. Hoping to find something that will stay relatively mud-free and my babies won't drown in it.

I also saw them on tv and as I also have polish chickens i was very interested. Are the ones at Brookfield Poultry bigger? If so, my polish would still get their crests wet. Annie has used the auto waterers, sure she will have some advice for you.

I have the big red dome ones from Brookfield poultry in each pen and the smaller ones in chick pens .They run(gravity) from a 1000 lt tank that I fill from time to time I tried the small units and they jammed and occasionally leaked ,I also tried the in line ones they worked but in summer the water got too hot. I'm now happy but I still get some hen knock out a line or clog one up somehow so I watch it in summer especially.

Thanks everybody! Now to confuse us all - I've found some different ones on royalrooster website which look like PVC pipe with a waterer on the bottom. And they have a feeder that's the same setup to keep mice & rats out. May have to bite the bullet and get one to try.

I saw those too, I thought they were a bit expensive. I have seen on the net instructions for making your own from pvc, maybe have a look at that first?

I use a 200 litre tank elevated to get a fall on it and that goes into 10 litre drums that I cut a whole in the side and put in a float system all on 1/2 inch pipe and it works well. I will this summer do the same for the other side of the cages I like the sound of annieyokie`s 1000 litre tanks. I have a couple in the shed, the birds do drink a lot in the summer months and that way would keep up with demand a lot better thanks for the idea Trev

Can anyone please tell me where to find the plans for those pvc jobbies? We are overloaded by the stuff (another clearing sale "bargain" bought by overzealous husband)

Hi Belle, I know it's an ancient thread, but did you end up buying the royal rooster product? Cheers

thank you very much, cannakid! I looked at both of them on eBay and was wondering which one to get. Which size waterer did you get and for how many chooks?
