Hi guys,
I had a RIR rooster - 6 months old - vicious thing. Killed my beautiful 2 yo Light sussex pure bred rooster. Yet, he kept my 3 male guineas in check. The female guinea fowl just minds her own business really.
I got rid of the RIR as I wanted a calmer rooster around my kids. So, I managed to get another LS rooster (1 yo) for my 6 LS hens. The problem now is that the male guinea fowl (8 months old)chase my rooster all the time. Poor thing just constantly spends the whole day trying to avoid the guinea fowl. I'm concerned they will chase him until he dies of a heart attack!
They have been together for 4 weeks and only have started this behaviour in the last couple of days.
I LOVE guinea fowl, but I also want to keep my rooster.
Anyone have any ideas, or its just not worth trying to keep male guinea fowl when roosters are around?
As an aside note; We don't like the idea of caging any of the poultry during the day. (even though I have enclosed 2 guineas until I can think of something).
Any ideas will be appreciated.
Cheers

Oh the joys of guinea fowl Like you, I love my guineas but boy are they a pain in the a***! If they're not chasing the poor chookens, they're making a blo*dy racket or the females are scattered around the property calling to the boys lol In my experience, there's not alot you can do as the boys seem to thoroughly enjoy picking on the poor chooks, especially the roos. My guineas are free range 24/7 and pick on the roos that free range during the day, and when that gets boring then they fly into one of the pens and chase those birds around lol Hopefully some of the others will have a few ideas for ya
