Only trouble is I have used up all the back yard space for my chookens and the only area left is out the front....lol....sorry, it is sheet rock out there. Or down the side of the house which you see from the road. My neat and tidy OH would have kittens, rabbits and cats if I put piles of tyres there. But me is thinking maybe he wont mind the straw....hmmmm....will have a chat with him.

yes, just spotted it Tina, I will check it out. Ok well when I get to it later I will start a new thread for the gardening swap unless someone does in the meantime. I just have to check out what I have that can be posted easily and cheaply. Whatever it is it wont cost me more than $5 to send in WA so Im pleased if I can get something I want in return. I think Monday postage for plants is a good idea, like eggs. then theyll still be fresh when they arrive. Im after some Chinese foxgloves -Rehmannia elata if anyone has some in their garden. I had them a few years ago but they died out. I havent been able to find them since. I bought my plant form the markets. Cant find it in the nursery anywhere. www.rainyside.com/features/plant_gallery/perennials/Rehmannia_elata.html

yeah i know all about rocks !! my house sits on sheet coffee rock sucks so bad and you just dread digging a hole coz you just end up with blisters and more rocks out of the hole but we bought in about 3 semi's of sand !! Which did cost a bit but was worth it then i had a sand pit for 6 years till we could get around to and pay for some lawn AND now i have a lovely lawn out the back about 300 sq meters kinda looks like a mini park i love it ..NOW i have to start the gardens and my TRAGIC front yard p.s my friend supplied the tragic part lol and i think it will stick even after we do it up coz it's funny

Most of our vegie beds are in old water tanks cut in half, so they are about a metre off the ground. Doesn't matter what the ground is, the tank is filled with clippings, paper and just about anything on the bottom topped with compost, soil from the chook runs (dug out and replaced with sand), and some soil we buy in trailer loads from a farm. I'm not a plants man but my wife is and she would love to swap cuttings and seeds.
