I acquired two new gfs and I have noticed they have quite pronounced "lumps" on their back. It's as if their wings are pressing in and pushing the feathers up. It's towards the tail. I may have to catch them and check that it isn't a problem. Has anyone else seen this?

guinea fowls are gfs like gold laced wyandottes are glws These two particular gfs are bfbs as well because the rotten little ratbags have gone and roosted at the top of one of the highest trees and are carrying on like a pair of maniacal machine guns. And the other one they are supposed to be companions for is back in the pen howling for its mates as loudly as it ever was before. Methinks gfs might soon be on the menu.

What a shame Mike. Why wont the other one go with them do you think. Is it 2's company 3's a crowd? Got a box of earplugs in the shed, want me to send you some?

As I sit here typing the two gfs are running around on my roof! I'm going to shoot them, I promise. I'd love to find out who put them in the Albany auction where I bought them. I bet she was having the same problems. And I even paid slightly more than I intended for them!!! I'm waiting to find out they are both males and then I am really going to find out where my wife hid the shotgun after my daughter came in that day and told us - but that's another story.

I'm sure you will like them a lot better when they have been roasted with a nice crispy skin. Has anyone got a good recipe for Mike.

They're back in the pen now after a lot of chasing around. Maddening how they head off along a track and when you double round to catch them at the other end they seem to know and have turned off and gone in another direction. After all that, I guess no-one knows anything about the bumps on their backs. I'm fairly sure it's only feathers sticking up but I will have to catch them and check it out. Now they are in their pen it will be easier but I'll give them time to settle down first.

I bet the lady who sold them to you is laughing her head off. She probably sold them cos they were little B****s. I wonder if the ones you sold previously are giving their new owner as much trouble as yours are giving you.
Poor little gfs's maybe we will be having Condolences page for them soon.
