I've just made a cage I copied your design Carolyn, I hope you don't mind I wired mine together with some old fencing wire coz I've got plenty of that around the place and its more foxproof than cable ties. I did a different lid on mine too. I cut one of the panels in half so I had a 450 x 700mm panel, which I wired to the back of the cage top and have used an old dog clip as a latch on the front. Next time I'm in Bunnings I'll grab a couple of smaller dog clips and put one on each side of the lid front just to make it a bit safer. Here's a piccie:

Ideal for making your small cages and wire fencing in general. Small wire c clips 500 in a bag about $5.50. For connecting wire mesh fencing & panels together are available at Bunnings & hardware stores.Purpose made pliers also are also available for crimping c clip made by same company. You can use ordinary pliers but would be slower to use.Find them with fencing accessories not in tool shop.

I used the clips that came with the wire, pretty useless as they tend to work their way down and fall off.

They may put them in a more prominent spot, I found them tucked up on a shelf. I never would have found them if I did not know where to look.
